About this site

The goal of this site is to collect and combine interesting data, develop appropriate statistical models, and make the results publicly available.

The content will be typically be related to politics and public opinion. The first project to be hosted here was a daily updated prediction model for the Norwegian parliamentary election of 2021.

The models that are developed for these projects are different types of Bayesian state space models, filtering out noise from time series in order to extract the underlying signal – hence the motto “helping the data speak”. The projects may or may not lead to publications in scientific journals – that depends on how innovative the new models turn out to be.

The site is maintained by Jørgen Bølstad, Professor of Political Science at the University of Oslo. However, the design also draws heavily on the work of others – see the credits at the bottom of the page. Feedback is welcome.
